The MexicoLiederFest – International Festival of Song of Art, was established as the only festival of its kind in all of Latin America. With a mission of promoting the awareness and enjoyment of the art song of all countries and of all times, its five editions during the 2014-2019 period achieved a total influx of more than 100,000 people, bringing them closer to classical music and art in general. The first program of activities was developed in Monterrey, reaching by its fifth-edition presentations in the northern states of Nuevo León, Coahuila, Chihuahua, and Durango. Loyalty to its multidisciplinary nature permitted the inclusion in its lineup not only of concerts,
but also masterclasses, language workshops, exhibitions, editorial presentations, and theater, within the theme of the art song. This collaborated to the sustainment of professional careers of national and international artists, composers and writers, and the creation of new audiences for this vocal art. In addition to what the celebration of a festival means to a city, the presentation of the MexicoLiederFest collaborated in national awareness of what the Art Song is and can offer, as a means of new repertoire for artists and voice teachers, the incorporation of new stage presentation formats for singers and musicians, and the enjoyment of this art to the general public.
